The laboratory for the synthesis of polyfunctional organic compounds has been functioning within the walls of our university for many years, but for some time its condition has left much to be desired. Everything changed in 2017, when a major renovation of the premises was started. Floor and ceiling replacement, wiring and windows, equipment repair and wall painting… The amount of work has been done colossally. Another important step in improving the effectiveness of scientific research, along with improving working conditions, was the purchase of more modern equipment. The friendly team of the laboratory tried very hard to coincide its opening with the Day of Russian Science – and it succeeded.

- Thanks to the strong financial support from the Russian Science Foundation, the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, the leadership of our university, we were able to repair the laboratory efficiently and on time, - says the head of the laboratory, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Viktor Mikhailovich Chernyshev. – Now we have high-quality modern equipment, it has become comfortable to work here. I am very grateful to our employees, because we have done all this great work together.

A very harmonious team has gathered within the walls of the laboratory, where experienced scientists harmoniously get along with young colleagues. Doctors and candidates of sciences, postgraduates (including foreign ones), masters and talented students work here, for whom this is the first step on the way to future scientific achievements.

- I got into the laboratory almost by accident, - admits Dmitry Pasyukov, a student of the Faculty of Technology, – but now I think it was the right choice. I really like working here, learning a lot of new and useful things for myself. Thanks to the laboratory, I was able to reveal my scientific capabilities.

Last year alone, the gifted student had five scientific articles published in highly rated domestic and international journals. Apart from them is Dmitry's scientific work together with Viktor Chernyshev, published in the American journal Organometallics, published by the American Chemical Society. The main topic of the article is a new approach to the study of types of catalysis.

- We managed to prove that in addition to molecular catalysis, which was considered the only subspecies for a long time, there is another kind of it – catalysis on palladium particles, - says Dmitry about his discovery.

Two new articles by a talented young scientist are being prepared for publication in the near future. They will also be published in highly rated journals of the first quartile of Web of Science. Now Dmitry Pasyukov has a thesis "on the nose", which, there is no doubt, he will successfully defend.

- I came to the laboratory in May last year, - says Gleb Early, a third-year student of the Faculty of Technology. – Now I am working on several scientific articles that claim to be published in high-ranking journals. Working here for me is an opportunity to improve my practical skills, to make myself known in the scientific world.

A new stage in the history of the laboratory for the synthesis of multifunctional organic compounds promises to be filled with new achievements and discoveries. But there can be no other way where real enthusiasts of their business, people who have chosen science as their life's work, have gathered.
