YOUNG NOVOCHERKASSK SCIENTISTS TALKED ABOUT THEIR DEVELOPMENTS

The first complex in Russia for the production of synthetic ceresin is the brainchild of young scientists from the Novocherkassk Polytechnic University. In the chemical laboratory they work around the clock. Their goal is to create a high-molecular hydrocarbon from natural gas.

Ivan Zubkov, Junior Researcher, Research Institute «Nanotechnologies and New Materials»:
«The end product is still synthetic ceresin grade 100, which looks similar to our normal candle, which we are used to seeing, but melts at a temperature of 100 degrees and above».

According to scientists, our country needs about 20 tons of ceresin per year so that familiar things do not disappear from store shelves. For example, lipsticks, candles, creams, medical ointments. This material is indispensable in the construction and radio engineering industries. Previously, the substance was purchased abroad. Now its production will be developed in our country. According to scientists from Novocherkassk, now the pilot complex is capable of producing a whole ton of ceresin per year. This became possible thanks to the catalyst substance, the formula of which was also developed by Don researchers.

Roman Yakovenko, Director of the Research Institute «Nanotechnologies and New Materials»:
«A six-meter tubular reactor has been created, which can be scaled up a thousand times already and this synthetic ceresin can be obtained in large industrial volumes, in the quantities that our country needs.»

Young scientists from Novocherkassk University strive not only to develop new technologies, but also to teach others how to use them in order to improve the quality of life not only for Donetsk residents, but for all Russians.
