"CREATE IDEAS! WE WILL SUPPORT YOU!

The strategic session dedicated to the Day of Russian Science was held at the Boiling Point on February 12 and was devoted to the topic of improving the effectiveness of training scientific and pedagogical personnel in graduate school.

The rector of YURGPU (NPI) Yu.I. Razorenov addressed the young scientific sprouts – graduate students with a welcoming speech. Yuri Ivanovich spoke about the opening of new laboratories at the university and other events held at the university as part of the Science Day. "We have very serious programs and projects ahead of us, our common goal is to enter the first group of universities that are evaluated by the Ministry of Education according to a certain methodology, win more grants, increase the number of industrial partners, create new laboratories and programs," Yuri Ivanovich said. - All this is done, among other things, so that you can feel comfortable, create new knowledge (and new knowledge is expensive today)."

The rector announced some figures. Thus, 156 postgraduates are currently studying at YURGPU (NPI), 114 of them are full–time students. 17 graduate students receive a nominal scholarship of the first rector of the NPI, Professor N.N. Zinin. Another 24 people receive various scholarships - the President, the Government, the Governor, the Center-Invest Bank.

- We hope that you will successfully defend your PhD dissertations after graduation and join the staff of our university, - Y.I. Razorenov addressed the graduate students at the end of his speech. – We are waiting for you! We will work with you so that you can become full-fledged employees of the university. We must understand and feel each other.

Yu.I. Razorenov took part in a pleasant ceremony of awarding honorary diplomas to graduate students for their academic and research achievements, and then invited the audience to a dialogue. Diverse questions were addressed to the rector, including those related to the organization of training, effective contracts, personal qualities of young professionals who could help them be in demand in the labor market. Yuri Ivanovich answered the last question as, according to him, he always answers students: a young specialist must be competent in his professional field, have a good command of a foreign (English) language, master modern software products.

In addition to the rector, the expert session organized in the form of a panel discussion on the topic "Actual problems of postgraduate development" was attended by the scientific director of the University N.I. Gorbatenko, Professor E.A. Yatsenko, young doctors of Sciences K.V. Vodenko and A.A. Tretyak.

At the beginning of the discussion, Yuri Ivanovich once again emphasized the problem: only 20% of graduate students defend their PhD theses by the end of their studies and become candidates of sciences. In this regard, the rector urged graduate students to be even more active, including in the framework of grants. "We will closely monitor your trajectory and make decisions, possibly tough ones. It won't work any other way," he admonished the youth.

Practical advice was expressed during his speech by the scientific director of the YURSPU (NPI) N.I. Gorbatenko. In his opinion, in order to defend yourself on time and successfully, it is necessary to do two things – to organize your work correctly and fully immerse yourself in the topic. Nikolai Ivanovich also called on young scientists to be more active: "Create ideas! We will support you!" N.I. Gorbatenko drew the attention of those present to the fact that ideal conditions have been created at the university for those who generate new ideas. A young scientist is given the opportunity to start his own business, organize his laboratory, design bureau.

The performance of E.A. Yatsenko turned out to be full of practical benefits. Elena Alfredovna recommended that graduate students actively use the help of various funds that regularly and systematically hold competitions, and warned that in case of failure, one should not give up, because even without winning a grant the first time, a person receives a valuable expert assessment that will help the next application become more successful.

K.V. Vodenko and A.A. Tretyak also presented their vision of the problems of postgraduate studies and ways to solve them.
