The international scientific journal "Catalysts", part of Q1 (General Environmental Science), published an article "The Influence of Platinum on the Catalytic Properties of Bifunctional Cobalt Catalysts for the Synthesis of Hydrocarbons from CO and H2", written by the staff of the Research Institute "Nanotechnology and New Materials" in collaboration with the staff of the Research Center "Kurchatov Institute".
The paper describes the new platinum-promoted bifunctional Fischer-Tropsch synthesis catalysts developed at the NTNM Research Institute. The effect of the Pt injection method on the particle size and conditions of cobalt reduction has been studied. It was found that the application of Pt by impregnation to the surface of the metal component of the catalysts provides the highest performance for C5+ hydrocarbons, and for the acid component - the maximum cracking and isomerization ability. Also, the presence of Pt leads to an intensification of synthesis and hydrogenation processes, including isomeric products, and a decrease in the content of unsaturated hydrocarbons.
The catalysts were tested at a pressure of 2.0 MPa, a temperature of 240 and 250 °C, an H2/CO ratio of 2, and a volumetric synthesis gas velocity of 1000 h-1.
The work was carried out with the financial support of the Russian Science Foundation, No. 23-73-108.
