VIKTOR CHERNYSHEV IS THE FIRST POLYTECHNIC PROFESSOR OF THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES!

Polytechnic, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, associate professor of YURGPU (NPI) and a successful researcher – Viktor Mikhailovich Chernyshev can now add to the list of his achievements the title of professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He joined the faculty of the Department of Chemistry and Materials Sciences and became the first professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences-chemist in the Southern Federal District.

This is a recognition of the personal scientific merits of the Novocherkassk scientist, as well as his active striving for the development of chemistry. The title "Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences" was introduced by the Decree of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences No. 204 dated September 29, 2015 in order to attract leading scientists with an active social position who are not indifferent to the development of science. A professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences can become a scientist recognized in the scientific community who has a PhD degree or an academic degree obtained in a foreign country recognized in the Russian Federation; awards, honorary titles, including membership in academies, scientific societies, etc. The experience of scientific activity of candidates is at least 10 years in scientific organizations or educational institutions of higher education.

Thanks to the scientific partnership with the institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences and, in particular, the N.D. Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences (and personally Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences V.P. Ananikov), a group of scientists of the YURSPU (NPI) under the leadership of Professor Chernyshev successfully implemented a major scientific project on the creation of new catalytic systems for the synthesis of multifunctional organic substances, supported by the RNF, polytechnics are carrying out a major project on the catalytic processing of carbon-containing materials into synthetic motor fuels and lubricants. Our scientists have managed to achieve world-class scientific results in the field of metal complex catalysis. With the assistance of scientific partners from the Russian Academy of Sciences, important reactions of metal-complex compounds based on N-heterocyclic carbenes, which are widely used in homogeneous catalysis, have been discovered and investigated at YURGPU (NPI). New effective catalysts for organic synthesis reactions and new methods for the synthesis of ligands and complexes have been developed.

Research in the field of homogeneous catalysis is conducted in the laboratory of "Metal Complex Catalysis and Organic Synthesis", headed by Professor V.M. Chernyshev. The laboratory develops active scientific cooperation with the IOH RAS and implements a number of scientific projects together with the Laboratory of Metal-complex and Nanoscale Catalysts, headed by Academician V.P. Ananikov. As a result of this cooperation, over the past five years, more than 20 joint articles have been published in highly rated scientific journals, such as ACS Catalysis, Chemical Science, ChemSusChem, Coordination Chemistry Reviews, Advances in Chemistry, Organometallics, etc. These works attracted the attention of the scientific community.

The entire staff of YURGPU (NPI) congratulates Viktor Mikhailovich on receiving the title of Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences and wishes him new successes in science!
