On May 19-20, a delegation of chemical scientists from the YURSPU (NPI) took part in the conference "New Horizons of Catalysis and Organic Chemistry", dedicated to the development of research of the scientific school of Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valentin Pavlovich Ananikov, which was held at the Institute of Organic Chemistry named after N.D. Zelinsky of the Russian Academy of Sciences, (Moscow). The conference was also attended by scientists from the largest universities and research institutes in Moscow (N.D. Zelinsky Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Bauman Moscow State Technical University), St. Petersburg (SPSU), Kazan (Arbuzov Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences), Tula (TSU), Omsk (TSNKHTI catalysis named after G.K. Boreskova SB RAS), as well as scientists from Armenia, (NTC of Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, Yerevan).
The colleagues were able to discuss scientific achievements not only in the field of catalysis and organic synthesis, but also the latest scientific directions – work on the use of artificial intelligence in catalysis and organic synthesis, research in the design and manufacture of chemical reactors using additive technologies.
The conference was attended by Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Chemical Sciences V.M. Chernyshev, researchers, Ph.D. K.E. Shepelenko, O.V. Khazipov, M.A. Shevchenko, A.V. Astakhov, as well as very young scientists - PhD student D.V. Pasyukov and M.S. S.A.Y. Chernenko.
After the welcoming speech of the Director of the IOH RAS, Academician M.P. Egorov, Professor V.M. Chernyshev made a plenary report on the development of joint research of the YURSPU (NPI) and the N.D. Zelinsky IOH RAS in the field of metal complex catalysis. All other participants from the YURGPU (NPI), including the youngest, also made oral presentations. In fact, the first section of the conference consisted almost entirely of reports by scientists of the YURSPU (NPI).
The work of the scientific group of our university at the conference was very productive. It was possible not only to discuss current scientific problems and adjust plans for further joint research, but also to outline solutions to a number of important organizational issues. For example, Andrey Chernenko's report was carried out based on the results of the candidate's dissertation planned to be defended this year. Based on the results of the discussion of the report, the organizers of the conference received a recommendation to submit a dissertation for defense to the Dissertation Council of the N.D. Zelinsky Institute of Higher Education of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
PhD student Dmitry Pasyukov made a report on the discovery of a new general reaction for the synthesis of imidazole salts, which are in great demand as ligands and ionic liquids in metal complex catalysis and various electrochemical applications (an article about this new reaction was recently published in the top international journal "Angewandte Chemie"). Dmitry also presented a poster presentation "A new methodology for the one-stage synthesis of heteroatom-functionalized imidazole(in)salts-NHC-proligands from acyclic precursors". As a result, the Polytechnic was awarded a diploma for the best poster presentation at the conference.
In his closing speech, Academician V.P. Ananikov noted the very successful development of joint research between IOH RAS and YURGPU (NPI), wished the scientists of our university new achievements and expressed readiness to expand scientific cooperation, including in the field of the latest trends related to the use of artificial intelligence and additive technologies.
