Application of mass spectrometry for the study of catalytic systems

Scientists from the N.D. Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the M.I. Platov South Russian State Polytechnic University for the first time applied high-resolution mass spectrometry to study the evolution of Pd/N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes under close to catalytic conditions. Chemists also managed to demonstrate the suitability of the method for kinetic studies of Pd/NHC transformations. The proposed approach is a reliable tool for studying transformations even at the trace level.
The results of the work are published in the journal "Organic Chemistry".
