On November 10, the results of a joint competition between the Russian Science Foundation and the State Science Foundation of China were announced. This is the third joint competition to support Russian-Chinese scientific teams, which is being introduced to the Russian Traditional Foundation together with the State Industrial Science Foundation of China (NSFC). This year, based on the results of an independent examination, 51 projects will receive support. Among the winners is the research of a team of Novocherkassk polytechnicians led by Viktor Chernysheva in collaboration with scientists from the Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (the scientific director of the project with the middle side is Wei Qi).

The size of one grant from the Russian Science Foundation ranges from 4 to 7 million rubles annually, and the scientific project itself is planned to be implemented in 2024–2026. The topic of the research conducted by Viktor Mikhailovich Chernyshev and his colleagues is “New methods for the separation and catalytic transformation of lignocellulose biopolymers into sought-after chemical compounds.” The current grant is the first in the collection of Novocherkassk chemists and Viktor Chernyshev personally. Polytechnician, Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has long been conducting research in the field of chemical catalysis, the promise of which is confirmed by articles in high-ranking scientific journals and a number of implemented projects, including jointly with world-famous scientists.

- Viktor Chernyshev is a prominent scientist, multiple winner of grant competitions, professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He leads a leading team and conducts research in current areas, the directions and relevance of which are confirmed by international opinion. The university is proud of its employee and his successes, and understands how important this work is not only for NPI, but also for the development of Russian science as a whole, - Vladimir Puzin commented on the success of the employee of the vice-rector of SRSPU (NPI) in scientific work and innovation activities. – The current victory in the grant competition and the implementation of a joint research project with Guangzhou University is a new vector for the development of our university and the first personal success of our scientist!
