"FIRST GRANT" OUR SCIENTISTS

Young scientists of our university continue to win scientific victories. According to the results of the contest of fundamental scientific research projects "My First Grant" in 2018-2019, five contestants from SRSPU (NPI) named after M. M.I. Platova were among the winners.

The organizer of the My First Grant competition was the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR), which has been supporting scientific and technical work in all areas of fundamental science for a quarter of a century. The purpose of the competition was to create conditions for young scientists to conduct independent research on the most important problems of the natural, humanitarian and social sciences. Another important goal was to develop the skills of leading research teams among the contestants. The size of the grant allocated by the state fund for each young scientist was 500 thousand rubles a year.

The project of Vera Pryatkina, an employee of the Scientific and Educational Center "Rational Nature Management", "Research of the Rankine Binary ORC Cycle" was designed for a sparsely distributed energy sector, in which diesel power plants prevail, and is aimed at using flue gas energy in order to save diesel fuel.

- My project is now only in its infancy, - Vera emphasized. - I am very pleased that it was considered relevant and supported at such a high level. In the future, I plan to conduct a number of research projects for its further successful development.

Roman Yakovenko, Senior Researcher at the Nanotechnologies and New Materials Research Institute, presented a project on the topic "Polyfunctional catalytic systems for combined reactions of synthesis and hydroconversion of hydrocarbons under Fischer-Tropsch synthesis conditions." It was aimed at obtaining motor fuel in an alternative way - from natural gas, coal. The work was also supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research.

- The plans for the future include the development of a catalyst for obtaining environmentally friendly motor fuel and its introduction into industry, - said Roman. - There is also an idea to create alternative fuel installations for their subsequent use in industry.

Among the other three winners of the "First Grant" are young scientists of the department "Information and measuring systems and technologies":

- Artem Kucher with the project "Development of methodology and algorithmic tools for intelligent identification of the internal structures of biological objects in electrical impedance tomography systems";

- Konstantin Shirokov - a project on the topic "Methods, mathematical models and algorithms for natural-model thermometric diagnostics of electrical products";

- Nuri Narakidze - a project on the topic "Research and development of algorithms for aggregation of heterogeneous data for the development of methods of diacoptics and diagnostics of complex technical systems on the example of digital substations."

The developments of Artem Kucher and Konstantin Shirokov can be used in the field of medicine in the future. Nuri Narakidze, most recently, became the winner of the U.M.N.I.K. And now the new development of a scientist in the field of energy is supported by an authoritative scientific community.

We congratulate our young scientists and wish them further success in their scientific activities!
