Technology for continuous synthesis of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural

Synthesis of 5-HMF in an acid medium in a two-phase system at a moderate temperature with continuous removal of the finished product from the reaction zone. As a raw material for the synthesis, fructose, sucrose, ground dried Jerusalem artichoke can be used.

The unit is designed taking into account the optimal conditions for dehydration of carbohydrate raw materials to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural and includes the entire range of equipment and automation elements in accordance with the production technology. The installation allows carrying out chemical processes in a two-phase system with continuous removal of reaction products.

Installation characteristics:

  • Feed rate of bulk raw materials to the reactor - 0 - 100 g/h;
  • The rate of supply and removal of the extractant to the reactor - 0 - 2 l / h;
  • The maximum synthesis temperature is 140 °С.
