One of the challenges of energy security for Russia is the changing structure of global demand for energy resources due to the new climate agenda and the global trend towards decarbonization of the economy. The key technology that determines the feasibility and possibility of the new energy transition is hydrogen energy. The strategic project "Hydrogen Energy Systems" aims to integrate the hydrogen energy production and consumption sectors. The strategic project "Hydrogen Energy Systems" will implement projects that will become the basis for a carbon-neutral economy of the Russian Federation:

• technological solutions for the production of bipolar plates for fuel cells and creation of fuel cell power plants;
• photoelectrochemical generation of "green hydrogen";
• a new generation of "smart" catalysts for capturing CO2 from the atmosphere and producing valuable products.

Implementation of new programs of basic and additional professional training, educational work in the youth environment in the field of hydrogen technologies, use of advanced research and technological infrastructure of the University will provide highly qualified personnel for the new energy industry and prepare the population for the formation of a carbon-neutral economy in Russia.
